Tuesday was one of those days. I followed my regular routine. I woke up, walked down the hall, started the coffee, walked back down the hall, woke up the daughter who growled at me, said hey to the dog, let the cat out, poured a cup of coffee, took my growling daughter to school and walked downstairs to my computer to update some news. And the computer didn’t want to cooperate.

I don’t ask for the Clark Griswold “Christmas Vacation” decoration extravaganza. I just want something simple. Every year we hang the icicle lights from the roof and tangle multi-colored lights on the bushes. Eight little snowmen watch for Santa to walk down the sidewalk and the teddy bear wreath hangs on the front door to welcome him.

At home, I am known as “Mom.” At work, I am known as “Mel.” Both names have an endearing quality to them, but can be used to the point of exhaustion.
I can always expect when I am summoned by either name that someone needs something.
